County crews return to Cole Creek for sediment removal

Lake County Water Resources crews returned to Cole Creek on Monday and Tuesday, October 5–6, to remove accumulated sediment ahead of the winter storms. Building on last year’s cleanup, the team uncovered the drainage pipe and removed sediment from the creek upstream of it. It’s great to see this hands-on maintenance continuing!

A big thank-you to Lake County Water Resources and the crews doing the work, and to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) for the permitting and coordination that made it possible.

This is welcome progress as we prepare for another rainy season. Keeping the channel clear remains important alongside the longer-term work to address Cole Creek’s flooding problems.
